About Us
The University of Calgary Spine Program is a multidisciplinary program dealing with the
care of individuals affected by conditions and diseases of the spine and spinal cord.
The program is centred at the Foothills Hospital and Alberta Children's Hospital within
the Calgary Health Region. Members of the Spine Program have joint appointments in the
Divison of Neurosurgery, Department of Clinical Neurosciences and Division of Orthopaedic
Surgery, Department of Surgery. The Spine Program provides care for patients with spinal
injury, infection, neoplasia and degenerative disease. Clinical care is closely linked to
clinical education and research in a supportive academic setting. The Calgary Health Region
is the tertiary referral centre for southern Alberta, Saskatchewan and southeastern British
Columbia, and the Spine Program provides support for the programs such as Trauma, Cancer and
Bone and Joint.
The U of C Spine Program is committed to excellence and scholarship in the
education, research and clinical management of disorders of the spinal column and spinal
cord.
The University of Calgary Spine Program is a
multi-disciplinary clinical and academic group
focused on the care of individuals with spinal diseases and injury. The program
has representation from Neurological Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Anaesthesia, Physical
Medicine and Rehabilitation, Nursing, and Orthotics.
Our mission is to provide world quality health care to individuals with spinal
disorders through the pursuit of excellence in research, teaching and bedside
clinical care.
